Wetu Commodities adds value to the rice husks, a rice processing by-product, other agro-processing by-products and agro-waste such as maize cobs, cotton stalks, saw dust, groundnut shells and other agro-wastes. The Company uses a carbonization furnace to carbonize these raw materials into charcoal which is then pressed into charcoal briquettes.
The Company partners with farmers and agro-processors to collect the raw material used in the carbonization furnace to produce charcoal briquettes.
The Company produces 1,300 tons/year of charcoal which saves over 30,000 trees from being cut down for charcoal production.
Wetu Commodities also manages and maintains over 200 acres of planted eucalyptus tree forests.
